National Standardization Body (BSN) announced 5 SNI Award 2009 winners at Balai Kartini, Jakarta Tuesday (11/17/2009) yesterday. The SNI Award 2009 winners are University of Sugiyopranata for service medium company category, Gapura Angkasa for service big company category, PT. Mahkota Dewa for goods small company category, PT. Chemical ATS for goods medium company category, PT (Pesero) Semen Padang for goods big company category.
They successfully defeated other 17 nominees consisting of: service medium company category 1, service big company category 2, goods small company category 2, goods medium company category 8, goods big company category 4. The State Minister for Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Suharna Surapranata, directly submitted the SNI Award 2009 after announcement of the winners by the Secretary of Juries of SNI Award 2009, Dr. Sunarya. SNI Award is a form of appreciation by the government in this case National Standardization Body (BSN) to any organizations consistently applying Indonesia National Standard (SNI) and caring about standard development, as well as having good performance.
The purposes of SNI Award are to motivate the application of SNI by business actors/industries and improve the comprehension of the benefits of SNI by the public. It is the fifth SNI Award since 2004. BSN has appointed the juries consisting of the professionals and community figures understanding organizational performance and standard application to select and evaluate the SNI Award 2009 winners. They were Rhenald Kasali, Ph.D as the Chairman doubling as a member, Ir. Didie B. Tedjosumirat, MBA as the Vice Chairman doubling as a member, Dr. Sunarya as the Secretary doubling as a member and Ir. Thomas Darmawan, Ir. Aditya Nugroho, MBA, Dra. Nus Nuzulia Ishak, Dr. Dewi Motik Pramono, M.Si, Ir. Muhammad Najib, MBA, Drs. Puji Raharjo, Mohd. Senang Sembiring, Ir. Basoeki, Ahmad Jauhar, Dr. Suharto Honggokusumo, Ir. Arief Safari, MBA, Maryono, Ir. Soemarjanto, MM as the members. All aspects motivating organizational progress to realize better performance, among others leadership and management, focus on consumers, resources development, products management/realization, and business proceeds were evaluated.
This year, 69 companies registered to participate in SNI Award. On the occasion, the Head of BSN, Dr. Bambang Setiadi, said that SNI Award is an appreciation not a competition. "SNI Award is an appreciation to any goods or services industries ready to encounter the global world, strengthen the national economy without defeating other national industries," said him. The SNI Award winners, he continued, are goods and services industries able to defeat themselves, revive with the new power for orderliness and focussing on consumers, power for quality and consistency, producing reliable goods and business proceeds, power for being environmentally-friendly by using Indonesia National Standard (SNI)
